Darren Spence and sons - killed in Manitoba

They died in a plane crash. It is thought that the cause of the crash was due to mechanical failure.

Darren Spence was the pilot of a small plane that was carrying his two sons and their friend, Dawson Pentecost.

Dawson Pentecost went with his friends on this flight as an adventure. He had not been on an airplane before.

The town of Waskada is devastated. It has a population of about 183.

Gage and Logan Spence
Darren Spence is described as a good friend and a good father to his kids. He was uptempo and could brighten your day.

Darren Spence was an experienced pilot who had a crop-dusting business in the community and a sand and gravel business. It wasn't unusual for him to take people up for a short flight. When flying, he always put safety first.

Dawson Pentecost
Dave Pentecost, a volunteer firefighter, the father of Dawson Pentecost, got a message on his pager that a plane had gone down. He rushed out on snowmobile to a field outside of town and was one of the first to find the wreckage. He fell to his knees to find his son there.

Darren Spence was a single father and friends described him as a loving father to his kids. He also has a young daughter who was not involved in this tragedy.

Darren Spence and Logan Spence and Gage Spence and Dawson Pentecost are survived by many loving friends and relatives.

Light a candle for Darren, Logan, Gage
and Dawson.  Light their way
to Heaven.
Pray for those who die young.

Pray for those who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next. Amen.

Let us pray that Darren Spence and Logan and Gage are in heaven. Let us pray that they are at peace and are with God. Amen

Let us pray that Dawson Pentecost is in Heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
