Kevin Tonn - Law Enforcement - California

Police Officer Kevin Tonn, age 35, died in the line of duty on January 15, 2013, in Galt, California. 

Kevin was a member of the Galt Police Department. He had 3 1/2 years of service. He worked in the K-9 unit.

Kevin responded to a burglary call at approximately 11:20 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene a witness pointed to a suspect who was nearby. As Officer Tonn approached the man to question him the subject produced a gun and fired a single shot, striking Officer Tonn. The man then fired at other responding officers before committing suicide. Officer Tonn was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Kevin was a U.S. Army veteran. He had previously served as a firefighter and medic. 

Police officials stated that Kevin was a very well-respected, very proactive member of their department and that his loss is extremely tragic to them and to their community. 

Kevin is survived by many loving friends and relatives.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
