David Fernandez Ureña

Spanish soldier Sgt. David Fernandez Ureña, 35, died on January 11, 2013, in Badghis Province, Afghanistan.

He was defusing a roadside bomb when it or another nearby bomb exploded.

He had previously been awarded the NATO-ISAF medal for his service in Afghanistan in 2009.  

He lived most of his life in Granada. 

Friends stated that he was well loved in his city. They are proud of his service to his country.

David is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including his parents.
