Adonis Reed - age 4, murdered in New York State

Adonis Reed, age 4, died on January 16, 2013, at his home in Amityville, New York.

An anonymous call to 911, led Police to the house. No adults were at home when emergency services arrived.

When police arrived, they discovered a young boy lying unconscious on a couch in the living room. The child had visible signs of trauma and bruising.  The boy was pronounced dead when he arrived at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center.

The boy had a 6-year-old sister who apparently also lived in that home. She was not there when police arrived. 

Jonathan Thompson, age 31, was arrested on charges that he murdered Adonis because the boy would not take a nap when told to. Thompson was baby-sitting Adonis Reed when he allegedly flew into a rage and punched the defenseless boy twice. The boy is believed to have died from internal bleeding and a lacerated liver.

Jonathan Thompson is the boyfriend of the boy's godmother, Lakisha Pitt, age 32. He has prior arrests for grand larceny and robbery. 

The six year old girl is in the custody of child welfare officials.

Adonis is survived by many loving relatives including his grandmother, Linda Daniels. 

God save the children from the caregivers who murder them. Amen. 

Let us pray that Adonis Reed is playing in the fields of heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
