Her body was found in a local river on November 9, 2012.
The cause of her death is undetermined at this time - it may be suicide or it may be murder. Katrina's abandoned vehicle, purse and cell phone were found scattered near Schoonmaker Park weeks ago.
A huge search was undertaken for Katrina with no result. However, a passerby found her body in the water, ensnared in a tree.
Katrina Smith worked in the Human Resources Department at Camryn Company in Belvidere, Illinois. Although her residence is in Machesney Park, Katrina Smith had recently been staying in Roscoe, Illinois. She and her husband, Todd Smith, age 45, had no children.

The husband, Todd Smith, hasn't been named as a suspect in this case, as of this posting. However, he has a criminal history and a name change in his past. It's reported that Todd Smith set fire to his parents' home several years back.
God help us. No one deserves to be found half naked and dead in a river.
