Artur Kasprzak - Law Enforcement - New York

Police Officer Artur Kasprzak, age 28, died on October 29, 2012, in his home on Staten Island, New York, during Hurricane Sandy. 

Artur was a member of the New York City Police Department. He was assigned to a precinct in Manhattan. He had 6 years of service. 

He was off duty when flood waters swept into his home. He was able to get six members of his family to safety in the attic - including two men ages 69 and 31, three women, ages 31, 56 and 68 and his 15 month old son.

He said that he was going into the basement to see what was happening and to survey the damage. He drowned there. 

Friends stated that Artur was a brave guy who loved being a cop. 

Police officials stated that Artur was really a great guy, well-liked, very professional and hard working. 

Artur is survived by many loving friends and relatives.
