She was murdered by her boyfriend, Clayton Whittemore, age 21. She died of blunt force trauma.
Alexandra was a 2012 graduate from New Hartford High School and was studying communications at State University of New York at Brockport.
Family stated that Alexandra was a bright, beautiful young woman who was thrilled to be beginning her college education. Her lovely and sweet demeanor was truly infectious and she will forever be missed.

Alexandra and Clayton had both attended the same high school. To friends, they appeared happy and content in their relationship and in love.
Clayton Whittemore enrolled at Utica College in the fall of 2011 and was an accounting major. He had been previously arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication in Brevard County, Florida, in January of 2011.
A standout high school hockey player, he had been named Section III's Division II East Player of the Year and the state Division II Player of the Year in his final season.

Clayton Whittemore told state troopers that he intentionally killed Alexandra but no motive was given.
Alexandra Kogut is survived by many loving friends and relatives.
Pray for all who die young.
God save us from those who say they love us. And then they kill us. Amen.
Let us pray that Alexandra Kogut is in heaven. Let us pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
