Bobby Gene DeMuth - Law Enforcement - North Carolina

Trooper Bobby Gene Demuth, age 42, died in the line of duty on September 8, 2012, in Nash County, North Carolina.

Bobby was a member of the North Carolina Highway Patrol. He was assigned to the Rocky Mount, Troop C District 1 Highway Patrol Office. He had 12 years of service. 

Officers from the Raleigh Police Department attempted to stop a driver, who was wanted on multiple charges, including two counts of kidnapping. The suspect immediately fled at a high speed. 

Bobby attempted to deploy spike strips at approximately 7:45 a.m. but he was struck and killed by the suspect's vehicle.

The man continued to flee but was taken into custody a short distance away after he crashed into a guard rail.

Bobby began his law enforcement career as a deputy with the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office. Before joining the Highway Patrol he was an officer with the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles Enforcement Section. 

Comrades describe him as a dedicated family man and a man dedicated to the State Highway Patrol. 

Bobby is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his sister; his wife and his son. 

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
