Andrew was a member of the 3rd Battalion, The Rifles.
He was shot by insurgents in an ambush after his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.
Andrew was born in Guildford, Surrey, and lived in Bristol. He had been deployed to Afghanistan since April, 2012.
He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Southampton before attending the Britannia Royal Naval College and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Military officials describe Andrew as an outstanding leader of men, who was charismatic, dedicated, professional, humorous, well-liked and well-respected. He will be greatly missed by his military comrades.
Family members describe Andrew as a fine young man who gave himself fully to his career in the military. Andrew is their hero. They will always be proud of him and of his service to his country. He will be forever missed and grieved.
Andrew is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his father, Paul Chesterman; and his sisters Anna and Olivia.
Let us pray that Andrew Chesterman is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
