Sergio Perez Jr.

Spc. Sergio E. Perez Jr., age 21, of Crown Point, Indiana, died on July 16, 2012, in Wali Kot District, Afghanistan, from injuries suffered when his vehicle was struck by enemy rocket propelled grenades.

He was assigned to the 81st Troop Command, Indiana National Guard, Indianapolis, Indiana. 

Sergio graduated from Lake Central High School in 2010. He trained at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. He was deployed to Afghanistan with the 17th Engineer Company.

Friends describe him as an all around great guy who got along with everyone. Many of his friends considered him as more of a brother than just a friend.

His family is devastated by his loss. 

Sergio is survived by many loving friends and relatives.

Pray for the 21 year olds who die in combat. Yesterday, they were just boys.

Let us pray that Sergio Perez Jr. is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
