Erica Alecksen

Spc. Erica P. Alecksen, age 21, of Eatonton, Georgia, died on July 8, 2012, in Maidan Shahr, Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained from the explosion of a roadside bomb.

She was assigned to the 978th Military Police Company, 93rd Military Police Battalion, Fort Bliss, Texas. 

Erica graduated from Putnam County High School in 2009 and joined the army shortly thereafter.

Family members stated that she loved being in the Army and was praised for her ability to follow orders. She is described as being witty and not taking herself too seriously. She is also described as a wholesome girl, who was lovable and who was positive about life. They are extremely proud of Erica.

She was scheduled to come home later this year. 

Erica is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including her parents Lars and Doria Alecksen; her brother, Charles Alecksen; her husband, Tim Bailey; and her grandmother, Maurine Huggins and aunt, Lydia Ivanditti.

Pray for the 21 year old women who die in combat. Yesterday, they were just girls. 

Let us pray that Erica Alecksen is in heaven. Let us pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
