Joshua Ashley

Cpl. Joshua R. Ashley, age 23, of Rancho Cucamonga, California, died on July 19, 2012, in Helmand province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to 2nd Law Enforcement Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. 

Joshua was a military Police Officer and a military dog handler.

He was known as Josh to his family and friends.

He graduated from Etiwanda High School in 2007, where he excelled at swimming and water polo. He enlisted in the Marines in 2008.

Family members stated that Joshua died a hero, protecting his nation. He is also described as a very independent man, who was determined and focused, and an achiever. 

Josh had plans of eventually joining law enforcement back in the U.S.A.

Friends describe Josh as sweet, kind and selfless. 

Joshua is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his father, John Ashley; his mother Tammie Ashley; and his brothers John and Jordan Ashley. 

Let us pray that Joshua Ashley is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
