Carl Hammar

Staff Sgt. Carl E. Hammar, age 24, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, died on July 14, 2012, in Khost province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered from enemy small arms fire.

Carl was assigned to 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

He graduated from Lake Havasu High School in 2005. He joined the Army in December of 2005 and graduated from basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia.  He then served as an infantryman at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He had been at the base in Alaska since September of 2011. 

Carl had served two tours of duty in Iraq - January 2007 to March 2008. He returned to Iraq from August 2009 to July 2010.

Carl is survived by many loving friends and relatives.

Let us pray that Carl Hammar is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
