William was known as Bill to his family and friends.
Bill had pulled over to the side of the road at 12:20 a.m. to help a stalled driver. The driver of the car then shot and killed Bill. Darius Lovings, age 27, had already tried to shoot one man on a back road in North Austin while acting stranded, but the gun did not go off when he pulled the trigger. Police caught up with Darius Lovings a few hours later after he went on a crime spree. Lovings confessed to killing Bill Ervin and said the voices in his head told him to do it.
Darius Lovings is charged with capital murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.
Jesus, pray for Bill and for his loved ones who have lost him |
Bill worked three to four jobs to make ends meet. He drove a Swanson's truck, a limo, picked up extra shifts at a hotel, along with his main computer job at the Department of Public Safety.
He graduated from Hallsville High School in 1996. He attended Texas State University in San Marcos, where he earned his B.A. in Graphic Design.
Family members describe Bill as a good guy, kind, an accomplished artist and a great father. He is also described as humble.
Bill is survived by many loving friends and relatives including father, Billy Joe Ervin; his siblings, Eardis Ervin, Andrea Sanders, Benisha Blake, Tonya Rison, and Ishan Rison; his wife Rachael; their daughter Fallon; and an unborn child on the way. Bill was predeceased by his mother, Mona.
Pray for all who die while coming to the aid of others.
God save us from the Lost Ones who stalk the Earth, bringing death to strangers.
Let us pray that Bill Ervin is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
