Travis Morgado

2nd Lt. Travis A. Morgado, age 25, of San Jose, California, died on May 23, 2012, in Zharay, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his patrol with an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. 

Travis graduated from the University of Washington with a civil engineering degree.

Travis joined the Army in November of 2010, and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in May of 2011. He was sent to Afghanistan on March 20, 2012. This was his first deployment to Afghanistan.

Family members describe him as awesome and stated that Travis wanted to contribute in some way. 

His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, and Ranger Tab.

Travis is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Andrea Velasquez Kessler; father, Joe Morgado; and brothers, Eric and Carlos Morgado; and 3 step-siblings. 

Let us pray that Travis Morgado is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
