Junot Cochilus

Spc. Junot M. L. Cochilus, age 34, of Charlotte, North Carolina, died on May 2, 2012, in Logar province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 7th Engineer Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York.

Junot joined the Army in March of 2010, and arrived on post in July of 2011 after training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.  He deployed to Afghanistan in October of 2011. He was a combat engineer.

His awards include the Purple Heart, the NATO Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Army Good Conduct Medal and the Combat Action Badge. He completed the combat life savers course.

Junot is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents; his brother; his wife and his child.

Let us pray that Junot Cochilus is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
