Israel Nuanes

Staff Sgt. Israel P. Nuanes, age 38, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, died on May 12, 2012, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained during an enemy attack with an improvised explosive device.

Israel was assigned to 741st Ordnance Company, Fort Bliss, Texas, part of the 84th Ordnance Battalion, 71st Ordnance Group.

He was born in Silver City and graduated from Casa Grande Union High School in Arizona. He first enlisted in 1992 as a heavy-truck mechanic. He left the active-duty Army for a while and earned an associate degree in computer network technology in 1999. He had previously served two tours of duty in Iraq.

Loved ones said that Israel had a strong passion for the military. He also loved the outdoors, spending time in the mountains, exercising and working on his motorcycles. 

Friends stated that he loved life and was an amazing father.

Israel is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his former wife, Rosina Rodriguez and his children - Israel J. Juan Nuañes, age 17, and Laurissa M. Nuañes, age 15. 

Let us pray that Israel Nuanes is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
