He was a member of Charlie Company, 86th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, based at Fort Bliss, Texas.
The details of the accident have not been released.
Mason entered active-duty service in August of 2006, as a light wheeled vehicle mechanic. He arrived at Fort Hood in June of 2008, and assigned to 407th, 4th Infantry Division Heavy Brigade Combat Team. His last assignment was with Charlie Company, 86th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, 11th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade in Fort Bliss where he had been since October of 2009.

His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal 3 Bronze Oak Leaves, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War On Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon Numeral 2, NATO Service Medal, Driver and Mechanic Badge, Driver Wheeled Vehicle Badge and Driver Track Vehicle Badge.
Military officials stated that Sgt. Moore was remarkable in so many ways. He lived his life to the fullest and touched so many people during his time with us. We all have memories that defined Sgt Moore; memories that we will always hold dear. We continue to keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers.
Mason is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife and son.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Mason Moore III is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
