William Wilson III

U.S. Army Sgt. William R. Wilson III, age 27, of Getzville, New York, died on March 26, 2012, in Paktika Province, Afghanistan.

William was shot by a member of the Afghan Security Forces as he approached a checkpoint.

He was known as "Billy" to his family and friends. 

He graduated from Williamsville High School in 2003 and enlisted in the Army in 2005. Between May 2005 and May 2008, he was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. In July 2008, he became squad leader and was stationed in Grafenwohr, Germany.

Family members stated that he was always there for his parents and was known for putting others first.

Friends describe William as a super-hero and as a caring and compassionate man. It was also stated that he loved the military and believed in his mission. 

William is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, William and Kim; and his brothers, Wesley and Jeremy. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that William Wilson III is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
