William Stacey

Sgt. William C. Stacey, age 23, of Redding, California, died on January 31, 2012, in the Now Zad District of Helmand Province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained from an improvised explosive device. 

Will Stacey was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Will grew up in Seattle and was a 2006 graduate of Roosevelt High School. He later attended Shasta College in Redding, California.

He joined the Marine Corps on Jan. 3, 2007, and was on his fourth deployment to Afghanistan.

His awards include the Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation and Good Conduct Medal.

Family members stated that Will saw himself as helping to defend his country and trying to make life better for the Afghan people. They also stated that they are very proud of him and that he will be forever missed.

Friends describe him as intelligent, competent, charismatic and cool under fire. 

Will is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents Robert and Robin Stacey; sister Anna and girlfriend, Kimmy Kirkwood. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Will Stacey is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
