Two helicopters were flying in a remote area of the 1.2 million-acre Yuma Training Range Complex as part of a training exercise, when they collided, killing 7 men aboard.
Nathan graduated from Amarillo High School in 1997 and is described by high school officials as an outstanding student, bright with a lot of potential.

Nathan was commissioned in the Marine Corps on Dec. 20, 2002. He was assigned to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma.
He served three deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
His personal awards include the Air Individual Action, Air Strike/Flight, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation, National Defense Service, Iraq Campaign, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Global War on Terrorism Service medals.
Friends describe him as a quiet leader whose work ethic made him a good fit for the military.
Nathan is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Amanda.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Nathan Anderson is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
