Shawn was a member of the Lake City Police Department and had 8 years of service with the Department.
Officer Schneider also worked part time for the Wabasha County Sheriff's Office.
Shawn had responded to a domestic disturbance call in Lake City on the morning of December 19, 2011. After arriving at the scene and attempting to make contact with the male subject, Officer Schneider was shot once in the head. The suspect retreated into the home, where he was found dead after a daylong standoff.

Officer Schneider was transported to a local hospital where he remained until succumbing to his wounds.
Police officials describe Shawn as friendly and outgoing and competent.
Shawn is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife and 3 young children.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Shawn Schneider is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
