Edward J. Frank II

Sgt. Edward J. Frank II, age 26, of Yonkers, New York, died on August 11, 2011, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. 

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y. 

He joined the Army nearly six years ago and had twice served in Iraq, earning numerous commendation and achievement medals. He had been in Afghanistan since March of this year.

He was due to return home the day before he died. He delayed his departure in order to volunteer for one last mission.

Friends describe him as a good man who was great with kids. 

Edward is survived by his wife, Selena, a daughter and two sons.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Edward J. Frank II is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
