Thomas Tholi

German Army Major, Thomas Tholi, aged 43, was killed by a suicide bomber in Kunduz province, Afghanistan on May 28, 2011.

Major Tholi was at a meeting in Takhar that included the governor of Kunduz province. As the meeting ended, an Afghan policeman approached the group and detonated a bomb attached to his vest.

His army base was in Kastellaun, Rheinland-Pfalz, where he served with the command support bataillon 282.

Thomas is described by loved ones as an experienced soldier, loved by family and friends for his great humor and a man who was able to handle stress.
