He was on a reconnaissance mission near the village of Shinza in the Alasay Valley, looking for weapons caches, when his unit underwent fire from insurgents.

During his ten years of service, Guillaume served in the former Yugoslavia (2002), Gabon (2006) and in Afghanistan in 2008. He returned to Afghanistan in May of 2011.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Guillaume Nunes-Patego is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
