Dimitri A. Del Castillo

First Lt. Dimitri A. Del Castillo, age 24, of Tampa, Florida, died on June 25, 2011, at Kunar province, Afghanistan of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with heavy small arms fire.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Because of his heroic actions during this firefight, Dimitri has been awarded a posthumous Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Family members stated that Dimitri was never afraid and willing to be the guy on the front lines and that he is a hero to his family. Also that he was a happy go lucky man who was always laughing and smiling.

Dimitri married Katie Pulliam, who is also a West Point graduate, and who is also stationed in Afghanistan. 

Dimitri is survived by numerous loving family members and friends including his parents, Carlos and Catherine del Castillo.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Dimitri Del Castillo is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
