Robert F. Welch III


1st Lt. Robert F. Welch III, age 26, of Denton, Texas, died on April 3, 2011, in Khost province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his base with indirect fire. 

He was an ordnance officer assigned to Company B, the 201st Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Knox, Ky.

Robert began his military service in October 2008, and was on his first combat tour of duty.

He is described as a loving husband and proud father.

Lt. Welch had already been awarded the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon. He has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart posthumously.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Robert F. Welch III is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
