Anthony Vargas

Spc. Anthony Vargas, age 27, of Reading, Pennsylvania, died November 8, 2010, in Nangarhar province, Afghanistan.  He was killed by an improvised explosive device, commonly known as an IED. 

Anthony Vargas was part of the First Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  Anthony Vargas joined the Army in October 2008 and arrived at Fort Campbell in February 2009.  

His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Commendation, and Army Service Ribbon.

He is survived by his wife, Luisa, and three children who live in Clarksville, Tennessee.  His father, Julio Vargas, and mother, Maria Vargas, live in Reading, Pennsylvania. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Anthony Vargas is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
