Pfc. Alexis Vincente Maldonado, age 20, of Wichita Falls was killed August 21, 2010, in Afghanistan. He suffered fatal wounds when insurgents attacked his unit using small-arms fire.Having joined the Army in Oct. 2008 as a combat engineer, Alexis Maldonado was assigned to the 510th Clearance Company, 20th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade out of Fort Hood, Texas, in July, 2010. He deployed to Afghanistan in December 2009.
His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with combat service star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon and Army Service Ribbon.
Parents of the fallen soldier are Sergio and Alicia Maldonado of Wichita Falls.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Alexis Vincente Maldonado is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
