1st Lieutenant Michael L. Runyan, of Newark, aged 24, died of injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his convoy vehicle with an improvised explosive device in Muqdadiyah, a city in Iraq’s Diyala province.The soldier was treated on the scene of the attack by unit personnel and was subsequently evacuated to the Combat Support Hospital located at Joint Base Balad, where he passed away.
Michael L. Runyan was assigned to the 52nd Infantry, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks in Hawaii.
