Matthew Harrison from Hemel Hempstead died in the Camp Bastion field hospital after being wounded in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, on Tuesday 13 July 2010.
Commanding officers and colleagues have spoken of how he always led patrols.
His parents, Brian and Janette Harrison said their son was passionate about being a marine.
Matthew was from 40 Commando Royal Marines, serving as part of Combined Force Sangin.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Matthew Harrison is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
