Carrie Melvin - murdered on a street in Hollywood, California

Carrie Jean Melvin, age 30, died on July 5, 2015, on a street in Hollywood, California.

At about 10 p.m., Carrie and her boyfriend were walking near Sunset Boulevard on their way to get something to eat. 

A man walked up behind Carrie and shot her in the back of her head, killing her. The boyfriend reported that the shooter did not say anything and nothing was stolen.  He fired one shot and fled in a small black car. 

The boyfriend was not injured. It is uncertain if this was a random attack or if Carrie was targeted. 

The shooter is believed to be a black male in his 20's, about 6 feet tall, who was wearing a dark hoodie.

Carrie was originally from Morro Bay, California.  She attended Morro Bay High School and went on to get university degrees in English Literature and in Film. She was very interested in documentaries regarding women's issues. She was currently pursuing a career in the entertainment industry and had also worked as a waitress and as a bartender.

bright young woman. She lit up a room with her smile and was well-liked.  She had a sense of humor and was witty. She loved others and was loved in return. She will be forever mourned.

Carrie is survived by many loving friends and family members including her parents, her older brother and her boyfriend.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray for justice for Carrie. 

Pray for her family who have suffered an unspeakable loss.

God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.
