In this document he basically states:
That we humans have treated the Earth irresponsibly, that climate change affects most people living in poverty, and that all must unite to protect the planet.
That we have harmed and plundered our planet. The soil, the water, the air and all life forms have been negatively affected by us.
That every effort to protect and improve our world entails profound changes in “lifestyles, models of production and consumption, and the established structures of power which today govern societies.”
That we have to bring the whole human family together to seek a sustainable and integral development, for we know that things can change.
That he appeals for a new dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet. We need a conversation which includes everyone, since the environmental challenges we are undergoing, and its human roots, concern and affect us all.
God bless Pope Francis for addressing this issue openly and frankly.
God grant us the intelligence to save our planet from ourselves. Amen.
