Perry Renn - Law Enforcement - Indiana

Officer Perry Renn died in the line of duty on July 5, 2014, at a hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Perry was a member of the Indianapolis Metro Police Department. He had 22 years of service.

About 9:30 p.m., Officer Renn and another officer responded to reports of shots fired at a city intersection. The two officers arrived at the scene and encountered a man in a nearby back alley. The subject opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle. Gun shots were exchanged and Officer Renn was struck by a bullet and fatally wounded. 

Officer Renn was rushed to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. 

The shooter, Major Davis Jr., age 25, was critically wounded and taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery.   He will be charged with murder.

The Indianapolis Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. 

Police Department officials describe Perry as a fine and brave officer. He was well liked by his peers. The Department is proud of his service. He will be forever remembered.

Perry had worked as a street patrol officer during his entire career. He had been awarded the Indianapolis Police Department's Medal of Bravery in 2003 and also received a letter of commendation for his efforts during the 2011 Indiana State Fair stage collapse that

Perry's loved ones are devastated over his senseless and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Perry is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members.

Thank you for your service to the public, Perry.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to strangers.

Pray that Perry is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
