Andrew Sass |
Andrew was assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment at Base Lewis-McChord near Seattle, Washington.
The details of Andrew's death have not been disclosed as of this posting. We find it very strange that so many men in the U.S. military and the military of other countries die in "training exercises". Training is supposed to simulate combat, parachuting drills, rigorous exercise and other difficult circumstances. It is supposed to "simulate battle conditions" but not kill you in the learning process.
We have been told that soldiers in some military jurisdictions, and not necessarily the U.S.A., are forced into 20 mile hikes with heavy backpacks in 95 degree temperatures. Some young trainees have heart attacks and die because of it.
This is not acceptable. Training is meant to make you aware of how to deal with
unexpected situations. It isn't meant to kill you outright.
Angels of God, pray for Andrew and for those who have lost him. |
