An Anonymous Good Samaritan gives away his shoes in Surrey, British Columbia

On April 19, 2014, an off duty city bus driver, Surjit Singh Virk, was returning home on the bus.

He noticed that a barefoot man was sitting near him.  Another man got on the bus a few stops later and sat in the vicinity of the barefoot man.

The recently arrived man took off his shoes and slid them over to the barefoot man saying "You can take these.  Don't worry about me.  I live close by."

The barefoot man put the shoes on.  The Good Samaritan got off at the next stop.

The observer of all of this, Surjit Singh Virk, was able to snap the photos of these two

men.  He said that after driving buses for 16 years he had never seen anything like this before.

The Good Samaritan wishes to remain anonymous.  He is a 27 year old Surrey resident and a Muslim who volunteers at his local mosque.  He says that good deeds are part of his Islamic faith.

The man who brought all of this to everyone's attention, Surjit Singh Virk, is a member of the Sikh faith.

The barefoot man who was helped most probably comes from some sort of Christian background.

Therefore, this act of kindness and this act of humanity overcomes all religious labels and boundaries. It reinforces the fact that we are all human beings.

Many of us are in need of help and some men and women, selflessly, come to the aid of those in need, regardless of religious affiliation.

Thanks to Surjit Singh Virk for reporting this.  We need stories that validate our humanity in this world of turmoil and strife.

The man who gave away his shoes is a Good Samaritan.

God bless this man in Surrey, British Columbia.  Amen.

God knows we need more men like him in this world.
