Jake Harrell - Firefighting Pilot - Arkansas

Firefighting Pilot Jake Harrell, age 34, died on or about January 31, 2014, near Glenwood, Arkansas.

Jake worked part time for the Arkansas Forestry Commission. He had been with the Commission for 13 years.

He also served with the Arkansas Air National Guard 188th Fighter Wing. He had also worked with the North Little Rock Police Department.

On January 31, 2014, he went out on a regularly scheduled wildfire detection flight and failed to check in with Central Dispatch. Sadly, he did not return home.

An intensive search ensued and the site of Jake's crashed airplane was found two weeks later. An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.

Jake's family are heartbroken over his tragic death. He is described as a gentle, caring

husband and father, who was happy to serve others. He is also described as a man of faith and was a long term member of the First Assembly of God Church in North Little Rock.

Jake is survived by many loved ones who will forever miss him.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next.

Pray that Jake is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
