William Lacey - U.S. Military

Sgt. First Class William K. Lacey, age 38, of Laurel, Florida, died on January 4, 2014, in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when the enemy attacked his unit with rocket propelled grenades.

William was assigned to 201st Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Knox, Kentucky.   He was a wheeled vehicle mechanic. 

William began his military service in 2003.

He was on his fifth tour of duty.  He had previously served three tours in Iraq.  This was his second tour of duty in Afghanistan.

He had received numerous awards and decorations during his career, including a Bronze Star Medal, three Army Commendation Medals and a National Defense Service Medal.  He has been awarded the Purple Heart, posthumously.

William is survived by many loving friends and relatives who will forever miss him.

Thank you for serving, William.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like William.

Pray that William is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
