Steven Fleming - Law Enforcement - Texas

Police Chief Steven Fleming, age 44, died in the line of duty on November 1, 2013, at a hospital in Gainesville, Texas.

Steven was a member of the Gainesville Police Department. He had 22 years of service.

On October 25, 2013, Steven had fallen from a ladder at the police department's evidence building.  He had seriously injured his head.

He was transported to a local hospital, where he remained until succumbing to the injuries on November 1st, 2013.

He started his career as a police officer in 1991.  Six years later he advanced to corporal. A year later he earned the rank of Sergeant and then Captain in 2003. It was in 2008 when he was promoted to Chief.

City officials stated that Steven had integrity, addressed issues directly, was a friend to the community and always lent a hand when needed.

Friends said that he liked to attend equestrian events with his daughter.

Steven is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife and daughter.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty. Amen.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next. Amen.

Pray that Steven is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
