Money for War and nothing else

Do we have money for medical
research?  No.
A couple of days ago, I published a blog post about a soldier, age 39, who had died of a brain tumour.

Today, I published blog posts about a volunteer firefighter, age 38, who had died of a brain tumour and also regarding a police officer, age 31, who died of a brain tumour.

These posts were coincidental and not planned.

Do we have money for food
production research?  No.
I knew a woman in my home town who died of a brain tumour 5 years ago. She was at a family barbecue in July when she felt dizzy and nauseated. She was dead by September of that year.

Brain tumours happen frequently and seemingly most often in the young.

What is required is medical research and funding for medical research to combat brain tumours and all forms of cancer.

Do we have money for
Deep Impact research?  No.
I have said this before and I will say it forever - Let's stop the wars and the conflicts and pull together to find a cure for the real issues, which are not political and religious issues, but are issues about disease, over-population, global-warming, destructive climate changes, and feeding the planet's populace.

Do we have money for climate
change research?  No.
A paltry sum is spent yearly funding research into the trajectories of asteroids and comets and other celestial bodies that may collide with Earth. Look at the surface of the moon and you will see thousands of craters from impacts of these celestial bodies in the moon's past history. The Earth is subject to the possibility of these same impacts and has been subjected to these collisions numerous times in the past. But we let amateur astronomers and unpaid volunteers monitor the skies for the potentiality of a "deep impact" or an "Armageddon" scenario, that would wipe us all out. Apparently, we don't have the money to fund astrological monitoring of the skies.

Trillions and trillions of dollars are spent on armies and the military and war-related issues yearly by all of the world's governments. A trillion is a million "million dollars".

Do we have money for this?  Yes - shit-loads of money
Seemingly, there is not much money for anything else.

God help us. Jesus, Mary and all saints and all angels pray for us. Save us from the warring Governments of this world. Amen

Canadian Hospitals - Dirty?

C. Difficile bacteria
Today, I watched a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation documentary, produced by their program "Marketplace", which dealt with the issue of cleanliness in Canadian Hospitals.

The producers of this program went to a hospital in Canada and applied a gel to numerous objects in the hospital - elevator buttons, light switches, door knobs, bed railings, bathroom taps etc. This gel cannot be seen and can only be detected by an infrared light.  24 hours after the application of this gel, they went back to the hospital to check to see if these objects had been cleaned. If the gel was still present, the object had not been cleaned.

Some of the bathroom taps were cleaned, but almost everything else had not been cleaned.

Cleanliness in a medical facility is always important because everyone there is ill to begin with. Hospitals aren't vacation resorts. You go there because you have a serious medical condition.

In recent years, many hospitals and nursing homes in Canada and in the U.S.A. have reported virulent outbreaks of "C. Difficile" (Clostridium difficile) which is a bacteria that can kill you.

You can go to a hospital with one particular problem and end up with C. difficile due to cross-contamination from other patients.

It has been stated by medical authorities that extremely rigorous disinfection protocols are required in order to decrease or eliminate this risk.

Rigorous cleaning is the only option
So...what do Canadian hospitals do? They eliminate permanent cleaning staff positions or hire private industry cleaning contractors, who push their employees to clean 3 hospital wards when they should be responsible for cleaning one.

In the end, because of this unrealistic work-load, everything is "wiped" and nothing is disinfected.

In the end, it is all about the money.  Seemingly, we don't have the money needed to hire staff to properly clean medical facilities.

God help all who are sick.

God help all who are sick and who go to a hospital and who contract yet another disease due to being hospitalized and because of the lack of cleanliness. Amen.

Cholesterol Drugs - Statins - the downside

Take another pill?
Cholesterol lowering drugs (Statins) are beneficial in lowering cholesterol and reducing the build up of plaque in the arteries. Therefore, they reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Millions and millions of people on this planet are taking cholesterol lowering drugs, and billions and billions of dollars are made by drug companies who market these drugs. Many medical organizations have stated that these Statin drugs are "hugely over-prescribed".

Statements have been made by the Corporations who sell these drugs that "side effects are rare".

This is NOT true. This is a total lie by the drug companies.

I first knew that Statins were crap about 5 years ago, when two male relatives of mine went on various statin drugs for cholesterol. One stated to me "My ankles are so sore that I can barely press on the gas pedal or the brake of the car." He stopped taking statins and that problem went away.

Another stated to me "I am having so much pain in my knees. I must have arthritis." He stopped taking statins and the pains went away.

Statins may have the following side effects:

muscle damage and pain
liver damage
memory loss
depression
cataracts
decreased libido and erectile dysfunction in men
type 2 diabetes
nausea, gas, diarrhea or constipation

My old family doctor says to me "Do you want to have a stroke due to cholesterol build-up and be trapped in a bed for the rest of your life?" Answer: No.

On the other hand: "Do I want to be subjected to constant arthritic type pains in my joints and muscles, get diabetes, have erectile dysfunction and cataracts? Answer: No.

I am going off of cholesterol drugs for 3 months, despite my old pill-pusher Doctor's wishes, in order to see if some of my adverse health symptoms go away after stopping these Statin drugs.

Some medical studies report that only 20 percent of your cholesterol comes from diet. The other 80 percent is produced naturally by your own body.

It amazes me that my grandparents who were immigrants from Russia, lived to their mid-eighties, with no cholesterol lowering drugs and yet ate pork lard as a substitute for butter or margarine on sandwiches. They took no drugs other than aspirin. They didn't eat 3 helpings of leafy green vegetables per day - they couldn't afford it. They ate potatoes. They had never heard of pasta. They had never heard of the phrase "going on a diet".

Drug Company greed
My other grandmother, of Irish descent, lived to be 94.  She didn't smoke or drink or over-eat.  She also didn't take any drugs, other than an aspirin.  She couldn't afford any other drugs, even if she wanted to.

It may be better to live less long with a better quality of life.

So... one has to individually assess the risks and the benefits of taking Statin drugs.

God save us from the drug companies who promote these drugs to everyone in order to make money for themselves. Amen

Sergeant Thomas was transported to Shands Lake Shore Hospital where he died.

Corrections Department officials stated that they are mourning the loss of Ruben who is described as a solid and highly respected member of the Agency.

Friends stated that Ruben was a hard-working boy. He did what he had to do to pay the bills. He was the first to forgive anybody for what they did. He was such a good Christian person. He went into work every day with the thought that, God forgives you, and so do I.

Ruben is survived by many loving friends and family members including his fiancee and their young daughter. Another child is expected in August.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Ruben Thomas is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
